Maureen Lamerdin

O.M.D., L.Ac.

Maureen Lamerdin learned at an early age the value of energetic medicine and the vital role that it plays in allowing the body to heal naturally.  A native to Lake Tahoe at 14 yrs. old Maureen received her first acupuncture treatment from the late Dr. Diamond in Reno, NV for severe frostbite of her hands and feet.  The treatment proved to be so successful that it was later written up in medical studies.  At age sixteen Maureen received her Masters in Reiki.  Her competitive ski racing career brought her to Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs, CO where she studied pre-med.  She continued ski racing at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT where she resumed her pre-med and environmental sciences studies.

Later going into pre-hospital emergency medicine and caring for patients with severe trauma and medical conditions and seeing the long term effects on these patients she realized the vital importance that preventative medicine has on health.  She then enrolled in Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, NM where she received her Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine, (M.S.O.M.).

She is licensed by the state of Nevada as an Oriental Medical Doctor, (O.M.D.) and by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine as a Diplomate in Acupuncture.  Maureen is a member of the Nevada Oriental Medicine Association, the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and the Society for Acupuncture Research.  Her experiences working in emergency medicine, hospitals and various clinics (some of which include oncology, orthopedic and geriatric specialities) have shown her the needs of today's patient and provided her a foundation upon which to develop her practice.  She opened Sierra Acupuncture & Healing Arts in Carson City in 2000, she also has a satelite office in Incline Village.
